A guide to every privacy control available in Philiabit, what it does, and its default value. Found in-app under Settings → Privacy.
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Profile visibility | Public · Friends Only · Private | Friends Only |
| Profile discoverability (shown in "people you may know") | On / Off | On |
| Search visibility (findable by username search) | Everyone · Friends Only · Nobody | Everyone |
Public means anyone using Philiabit can view your profile, even without being your friend. Friends Only restricts your profile to accepted friends. Private hides your profile from everyone except people you explicitly approve.
Each content type has its own independent visibility setting, so you can, for example, keep your habits private while still showing off your streak publicly.
| Content | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Habits | Public · Friends Only · Private | Friends Only |
| Challenges | Public · Friends Only · Private | Friends Only |
| Streaks | Public · Friends Only · Private | Friends Only |
| Stories (24h proof) | Public · Friends Only · Close Friends · Private | Friends Only |
| Hide from leaderboard | On / Off | Off |
Note: content shared inside a group or team challenge (like relay proof) is always visible to that group regardless of your general visibility setting, since it's needed to verify the challenge.
Turning off Activity status hides your live online indicator from everyone, and automatically hides your last-active timestamp too. You'll also stop seeing other people's activity status, which is how most habit apps balance transparency and privacy.
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Activity status (online dot) | On / Off | On |
| Last active visibility | Everyone · Friends Only · Nobody | Friends Only |
AI personalization controls whether your activity (habits, categories, completion patterns) may be used to power personalized suggestions if/when Philiabit's AI-assisted features launch — see the AI Features Disclaimer. As of this version, Philiabit has no live AI coach, so this toggle has no effect yet but is available so your preference is already on record.
Analytics sharing controls whether your in-app usage events (e.g., screens viewed, challenges joined) are included in the aggregated product analytics we use to fix bugs and improve the app. Turning this off does not remove analytics already collected, but stops new events from being attributed to you.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| AI personalization | On |
| Analytics sharing | On |
Notification preferences are split by channel and category so you can, for example, keep chat push notifications on while turning off marketing emails.
| Channel | Categories | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Push notifications | Reminders, Social, Chat, Milestones, Marketing | All on except Marketing |
| Email notifications | Account & security (always on), Marketing (optional) | Security on, Marketing off |
| SMS notifications | Optional, requires a verified phone number | Off |
Security and account-critical emails (like password resets or suspicious login alerts) cannot be disabled, since they protect your account.
This section shows the live status of each OS-level permission and deep-links you to your device's system settings to change it. For a full explanation of why each permission is requested, see Data & Permissions.
Export my data generates an instant, in-app download of your core activity — habits, challenges, streaks, XP/coin history — in a portable format (JSON/CSV).
Request full data archive asks us to compile a complete copy of your account data, including messages and media references, emailed to your registered address within 30 days — this mirrors your GDPR/CCPA data portability right.
Delete account starts the account deletion flow described in full in Account & Data Deletion, including the grace period and what is and isn't recoverable.
Some controls roll out gradually by platform version — tell us what's missing and we'll point you in the right direction.
